John C. Klock, M.D.
CEO, Managing Director and Manager

Dr. Klock has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Company since 2014 and as Managing Director, Manager and Founder of the Company since 2011. Prior to QT Ultrasound, Dr. Klock was involved in the start-up of five medical companies, including Co-Founder and President of BioMarin Pharmaceutical, which successfully commercialized five FDA drugs; Scientific Founder and Vice President of Research of Glycomed, now Ligand Pharmaceutical; and founding investor in Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical. He also personally brought to market a novel cancer treatment, the first rapid AIDS test, comprehensive tests for detecting metabolic diseases in children, and several drugs for treating pediatric genetic conditions. Dr. Klock has authored over 70 peer-reviewed medical and scientific publications, and eight granted patents.

Mark W. Lenox, Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Lenox is an electrical and computer engineer with many years of research and development and product development experience in medical imaging. Prior to joining the Company, he was director of medical imaging at the Texas Institute for Preclinical Studies and a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A & M University. Prior to his academic work, he was director of New Product Development at CTI-PET Systems, manufacturer of the first commercial PET and PE-CT scanners. Dr. Lenox is author of over 70 publications and ten patents.

Ronald T. LoVetri, M.S.
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. LoVetri is a graduate computer engineer and businessman with experience in electronics manufacturing (General Electric), computer software design and implementation (Autodesk), in banking and finance (Charles Schwab) and in IT and enterprise management (BioRad Laboratories). Mr. LoVetri brings a unique skill set to the management, team-building, finance and operations efforts of the Company.

Nasser C. Pirshafiey, MBA
Senior Director, Engineering & Manufacturing

For over three decades Mr. Pirshafiey has developed products and businesses for domestic and multinational firms. Mr. Pirshafiey’s creativity, innovative problem solving skills, and entrepreneurial mindset have provided professional, technical, and business solutions to many start-ups and mature companies.  He has previously founded and managed two companies with the mission to provide sustainable practices to industries such as medical devices, automotive, aerospace, high-tech, consumer products, and robotics (brief client list: Johnson & Johnson, Siemens, Edwards Life Sciences, Autoliv, TRW).  Mr. Pirshafiey has 16 inventions filed with the US patent office, holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, and an MBA with specialization in Entrepreneurship.

Tom Vredevelt
Chief Commercialization Officer

Mr. Vredevelt has invested in and started several pre-revenue companies, with his role including management during the start-up, growth, and exit stages. This experience first started with a small family business that grew to be the largest designer and publisher of needlework books in North America.  After studying at Western Michigan University Mr. Vredevelt co-founded Quality Edge Inc., an aluminum manufacturing plant serving the residential building products market.  With 3 plants serving 25 states it was successfully sold to Marubeni-Itochu Steel America.  After that he joined a boutique Investment firm consulting with companies from start-ups to over $100M in sales.  He has served on numerous boards, including an orphanage in Cairo Egypt, which offered him unique experience in guiding companies through the obstacles they face. Mr. Vredevelt is an accomplished pilot with commercial jet ratings.


Kathleen Smith, MBA
Senior Director Clinical Operations

Ms. Smith brings over 15 years of experience in clinical research management spanning all phases of medical device and pharmaceutical development. Her expertise and passion for bringing products to market to improve patient care has yielded approvals in Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe. Prior to joining the company in 2015, Ms. Smith was responsible for global clinical affairs at TriVascular. Her prior experience at Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences in Global Regulatory and Clinical Affairs yielded multiple NDA and ANDA FDA approvals.  Ms. Smith started her career at the University of Utah in Clinical Research for Cardiovascular and Genetic studies. Ms. Smith received her MBA from Colorado State University.



Mikel Ann “Mikie” Rudy, CPA (inactive)
Director, Accounting & Finance

Ms. Rudy is a graduate from UCLA with a B.S. in Mathematics and a Specialization in Computing. She worked for 2 ½ year at Ernst & Young in the audit practice in San Francisco where she obtained her CPA license. She then had the amazing opportunity to work for 21 years at Lucasfilm Ltd. in the Corporate Accounting group where she was the Assistant Controller. While there she was responsible for all the day-to-day accounting as well as annual audits, consolidation of 20+ legal entities, foreign production audits, system implementations and inventory of Star Wars costumes.
